It works well, and it works always. Zlango has developed an interface to 20 different natural languages.

It has over 1,000,000 users on a monthly basis in 12 countries. They create millions of Zlango messages.

On top of the language and icons, Zlango has created a host of extremely powerful technological products, which enable the use of Zlango in different domains.

How to Download Zlango?

This section explains how to obtain the Zlango client and install it on the handset.

Invite Friend

A registered user sends an invitation to an unregistered user. The unregistered user receives a WAP Push message, to download Zlango.

WAP

Go to https://d01.zlango.com/ZlangoDownload/CD and download Zlango.

SMS to Short Code

Send empty SMS to 2306. You will receive a WAP Push service message, to download Zlango.

Where Zlango is Installed?

The downloading procedure also installs the client on the handset.

On most handsets Zlango will automatically be installed on a designated location on the handset. It will be installed in the following locations:

Handset brand	Where installed

Sony Ericsson	Menu -> File Manager (should be in Applications or Games)

Registration

When you first open the Zlango client, approve the terms of use and just enter a nickname and press OK in order to register to the service. Your nickname will appear as the sender's name in messages issued from your handset.

Note:

When sending a message from the client, the system to send the message to the destination number. All messages issued from the client are sent to the Zlango dedicated sort code.

Using Zlango

Application Interface

Splash Screen

A splash screen is displayed when the application loads.

Main Screen

The Zlango application does not require any prior knowledge except for some familiarity with cell phone usage.

This screen conveys the following concepts:

The icons Write and Read immediately show that this is a messaging application.
Invite inspires security as it establishes a similarity between Zlango and instant messaging or Web applications.
The context-sensitive top bar provides quick orientation.

Click * to toggle the label display.

Invite

A viral introduction tool, this icon opens a box prompting the user to enter the phone numbers of friends to invite them to use Zlango.

The friends receive the message: Please Zlango With Me.

Recipients who do not have Zlango installed will receive a link to a downloading site.

Contacts

The Contacts list is designed not only to manage a list of contacts but also to initiate actions such as sending a message or placing a phone call.

Message Boxes

The display of the links to these boxes in the main screen improves user access.

Message Lists

This list shows the first two icons of a message, the nickname, the sending date and time.

In the case of the Ready Messages that includes templates, the beginning of the message replaces the sender, date and time.

Composing Messages

In the composition screen the user should be able to compose a message using the one of the following input methods.

Text-to-Zlango (TTZ) - writing a word or parts of it: This is done by using the number keypad in the SMS convention. For example, writing the letter k requires two strokes on the 5 key. To choose the word, enter text until your selected word appears on the screen or enter the word and press 0 key or the "fire" key. Toggle between regular text insertion and predictive mode, using the # key in the main edit menu. The predictive mode functions in the same way as regular text messages.

Note: The TTZ option is unavailable on some handsets with low performance or screen size less than 128*160 pixels.

Selecting an icon from a category

The selected element appears against a green background both in the main screen and in the category screen.

Category names appear in the title bar for orientation.

Note: Some handsets have three icon columns and some have four columns.

Receiving a Message

When a new message comes in, the following message pops-up:

"Zlango message arrived".

The sender's nickname also appears at the bottom of the display, against a green background, and a small yellow envelope appears in the top right hand corner of the screen.

When scrolling through messages in Read Messages, unread messages appear against a red background.

Message Viewing Options - Read Messages

After viewing a message, selecting the Actions command displays the following options:

Reply: Reply to the sender
Edit: Edit the message for sending, saving or Zlapping
Forward: Forward the message (as-is) to another recipient
Zlap: Show message icons in slide-show fashion - Zlap the message
Save Message: Save the message to the Ready Messages
Call: Call the sender
Delete: Delete the message
Info: Display the sender details and date
Next Message: Display next message in Read Messages
Previous Message: Display previous message in Read Messages

Help

The Help section displays on-line help on all Zlango elements.

About Zlango

The About section display the version number and a copyright notice.

Update

The main screen includes an update option (need GPRS). As soon as it is selected, an updated version of the Zlango client is downloaded to the handset. The update does not affect the contacts list and the ready messages.

Use Update Registration to update user registration.

Limited Handsets

Handsets with limited resources may not display design elements such as the top bar and the scrolling bar.

Exiting

The right soft key on the main screen closes the Zlango client.

Language Interface

The Zlango language is arranged in a way that facilitates easy navigation among icons. The icons are divided into easily accessible categories.
